Warwick Grove to Host Hudson Valley Jazz Fest Fundraiser
In what could be considered this area’s community-raising fist-pump, the 2015 edition of the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival, six years strong, will kick off the festival season with two exciting fundraising performances featuring tantalizing and mesmerizing jazz for music lovers of all stripes.
On Sunday, April 19, with two shows at 2pm and 3:30pm, artists scheduled to perform include saxophonists Eric Person, Bob Rosen, Harvey Kaiser, Dave Smith, Michael Purcell, and Bill Pernice; vocalist Judi Silvano; pianists Joe Vincent Tranchina and Richard Kimball; trumpet players John Castleman and Rick Savage; bassists Robert Kopec and Mark Hagan, jazz violinist Gabe Valle; and drummers Michael Hickey and Steve Rubin. At press time, more names were in the wings, the buzz throughout the enlarged community growing as artists seek to add their names to this regional cultural event, the sixth-annual Hudson Valley Jazz Festival.
Started in 2010, the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival has gained national acclaim as a festival combining both area-wide talent with national and internationally celebrated artists. Expanding from its original, pared-down format, the festival has grown to include performances in various locations throughout the lower Hudson Valley as the desire for top-drawer musicians and concerts has grown. Centered in and around Warwick, New York, the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival has been recognized by such media kingpins as the New York Times and DownBeat Magazine.
