Howard’s role at LeylandAlliance is multi-faceted, focusing on the planning and structuring of projects, as well as financial and legal matters. He has negotiated innovative public-private transactions for several of Leyland’s projects. He has also led the successful effort to obtain federal and state grants, and to structure municipal financing for public infrastructure associated with Leyland’s projects. Howard has been closely involved with all of the company’s land use matters, which typically involve the establishment of innovative new zoning regimes. He also negotiates all debt and equity financing for the company and its projects.
Before joining LeylandAlliance, Howard was chair of the Real Estate Practice Group in the New York City office of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP, the international law firm. He also served as co-chair of the Real Property Law Section of the New York County Lawyer's Association.
Howard has served as board member of The Community School, serving learning disabled students throughout the New York City metropolitan area. He is also a former board member of The Sedgewood Club and Mid-Hudson Pattern for Progress, and has served as General Counsel and board member for the National Town Builders' Association.
Howard is a graduate of Queens College and Harvard Law School.
