Construction is slated to begin this spring on Main Street Homes, a neighborhood of forty-two new homes to be built in Storrs Center, a $200 million mixed-use downtown property located at the intersection of Storrs Road (Route 195) and the University of Connecticut in the Town of Mansfield. Modeled after some of America’s most loved college communities, Main Street Homes features ten single-level flats in an elevator building and thirty-two townhomes. Amenities include a clubhouse, pocket parks, sidewalks, and the unmatched proximity of being located within a new, walkable downtown adjacent to Connecticut’s flagship university. The neighborhood is flanked by a large area of conservation woodlands, replete with walking trails.
Fifty percent of the homes have already been placed under contract at prices ranging from the high $200s to mid $500s. “The response to Main Street Homes has been remarkable,” stated Howard Kaufman, Chief Executive Officer of LeylandAlliance LLC of Tuxedo, New York, the developer of Storrs Center. “Main Street Homes represent the only residences available for sale in Storrs Center and address a growing demand for walkable neighborhoods within close proximity to shopping, entertainment, and services. We’re finding that people want the convenience and lifestyle associated with living in great university downtown neighborhoods.”
The homes feature classic design by some of the nation’s most respected architects. Modern floor plans, coupled with energy-efficient features and low-maintenance materials, will provide homes that are both enjoyable and comfortable. Leyland plans to start construction in late spring and the first residents are expected to move in by the end of the year and throughout 2016.
